He made his film debut in the film "Red River." He played a starring role in the film "The Big Lift." He starred along with Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable in the film "The Misfits." His performance in the film "Freud: The Secret Passion" was also appreciated. His appearance in the thriller "The Defector" was his final film role.
