He started his career with the role in an episode of Dr. Finlay's Casebook as Charlie Bell, and in The Merchant of Venice as Shylock. He was a policeman in an episode of Coronation Street and was regularly seen in TV series such as The Troubleshooters, and the BBC's Sherlock Holmes. He was Private Walker in Dad's Army. He appeared in A Family at War and had a lead role in Romany Jones as Bert Jones.
