Jack Albertson was born in Malden, Massachusetts, U.S. on June 16, 1907, and died on November 25, 1981, due to Colorectal cancer.
In his last years, he was diagnosed with cancer but he did not leaked the information and continued acting. His last two roles were in the television movies, My Body, My Child (1982) and Grandpa, Will You Run With Me. In Disney's 24th animated feature, The Fox and the Hound, which was released four months before his death was his final role of, Amos Slade, who was an ill-tempered hunter. He was married to June Wallace Thompson in 1952 and they also have one daughter.
His mother was a stock actress and work in a shoe factory to support the family and also his sister was actress named Mabel Albertson

His most popular role was of John Cleary in The Subject Was Roses and he also received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the role. He also received a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame.
He worked as a hoofer in burlesque and besides that, he also worked on stage for High Button Shoes, Top Banana, The Cradle Will Rock, Make Mine Manhattan, Show Boat, Boy Meets Girl, Girl Crazy, Meet the People, The Sunshine Boys. He also won Tony Award for best supporting actor in The Subject Was Roses.
He had a small role in Miracle on 34th Street. In 1971, he worked as Grandpa Joe in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and played the role of Manny Rosen, The Poseidon Adventure in 1972.
He wanted to reprise his role in the movie version of The Sunshine Boys but on the time of filming, he was busy in Chico and the Man on TV. He had also worked on many T.V. series like Hey, Jeannie in crime drama State Trooper; and the 1961-62 drama series Bus Stop. He had guest appeared in crime drama series Richard Diamond, Private Detective.
In 1961 he was cast in three episodes of Pete and Gladys and in "Listen to the Nightingale", the series finale of Riverboat, as Sampson J. Binton. He won Emmy Award for Chico and the Man in which he had co-starred as "The Man" Ed Brown with Freddie Prinze.
