He was interested in a music career at a very young age. He founded "The Hollies" with friend Graham Nash when both were in school. They released 30 chart singles in the UK. He composed the band's albums such as Butterfly, For Certain Because and Evolution. He also wrote songs like Lullaby To Tim, Water on the Brain, Would You Believe? and more. He left the group in 1971 and also released solo albums. He returned to the group in the early 1990s.
