About Allan Arbus
American actor and photographer Allan Arbus was born on February 15, 1918, in New York City, New York, U.S. He was born in Jewish Family in the home of a stockbroker Harry Arbus and the name of his mother was Rose. He studied at DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx. His wife Diane Nemerov was also a photographer with whom he was married in 1941. They got divorced after having two kids. His children are also famous his daughter Amy Arbus is a photographer and his son Doon Arbus is a writer and art director. After that, he was married to actress Mariclare Costello in 1977 and they had one daughter Arin Arbus. She is an associate artistic director at Theatre for a New Audience. He died at the age of 95 with a heart failure on April 19, 2013, in Los Angeles.
Career of Allan Arbus
Photography
As a photographer, he started his career with United States Army in the 1940s. After giving his valuable service to Army he and his wife started a photographic advertising business in Manhattan in 1946. He was famous for his photography in Glamour, Seventeen, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and other magazines.
Acting
After his divorce from the first marriage, his business comes to an end. Then he decided to start an acting career. His lead role in Robert Downey Sr.'s cult film Greaser's Palace in 1972 lead him to such an excavation that he becomes a star. In 1973, he had a starring role in Scream, Pretty Peggy. His character was Gregory LaCava in W.C. Fields and Me in 1976. He was a drug dealer in Coffey and was a drunken sailor in Cinderella Liberty.
Television
He had also worked in television in about 45 titles and his recent work is in Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2000.
