Some Lesser Known Facts About Stonewall Jackson

In his childhood, his mother dies and left three children. His sister was sent to his mother's relative and he was sent to aunt Aunt Polly who was his father's sister and his husband but her husband doesn't like him and abuses him with the words so he ran away from their house and live with his uncle for seven years.
His uncle was very strict and he worked on the farm, tending sheep and helping the other labor in harvesting wheat and corn. His maximum teaching was self-taught. He read books at night in the light of burning pine knots which he takes from one of his uncle slaves. Later he became the school teacher in the Jackson's Mill.
For his whole life, he believed that his arms are longer than the others. Due to his sleeping habit, he was named as a 'champion sleeper' because he can sleep with food in his mouth.
In 1927 a statue was made in his honor at Manassas National Battlefield Park, Manassas, Virginia by Joseph Pollia.
He appeared on the postal stamp on three occasions. One in 1936 he appeared commemorative stamp along with the Robert E. Lee, secondly in 1970, he has appeared on the 6-cent Stone Mountain Memorial commemorative issue along with Lee again and Jefferson Davis and the third stamp was issued on 1995.
The United States Navy named one submarine U.S.S. Stonewall Jackson (SSBN 634) after him in 1964.
He also joined United States Army as a second lieutenant. He met the Robert E. Lee, during the war in Mexico and one day along with him he joined the American civil war.
He got the nickname 'Stonewall' while the First Battle of Bull Run in July of 1861 when against a union attack Jackson command his army and saved them.
