About Bhagat Singh
A well-known name in the Indian fight for Independence. Every patriot knows the name of "Bhagat Singh" who sacrificed his life for Indian freedom. He died at the age of 23 but is still alive for his contribution to freedom. He is remembered for his revolutionary thoughts. He is immortal as he will remain alive in the heart of every Indian who love their country.

Career of Bhagat Singh
In 1926, he founded the Indian socialist youth organization "Naujawan Bharat Sabha" and also joined the Hindustan Republican Association which was headed by Chandrashekhar Azad, Bismil, Ram Prasad and Ashfaqullah Khan. Police arrested him for his influence on youth with a charge of bombing in Lahore. He decided to take a revenge of the death of Lala Lajpat Rai who was injured in a lathi charge while protesting against Simon Commission. They planned to kill Scott but killed Saunder by mistake. On 8 April 1929, he along with Batukeshwar Dutt threw two bombs into the Assembly chamber but instead of running from there, they stayed shouting the slogan "Inquilab Zindabad!" He was sentenced to death on 23 March 1931.

  • When he was in Mianwali Jail he noticed that there was a discrimination between European and Indian prisoners. He along with other Indian prisoners demanded clean clothing, toiletries, equality in food standards, and other hygienic necessities, as well as access to books and a daily newspaper.

Singh ended the strike on a request by his father and taking into consideration a resolution of the Congress party after 116 days.
