Career of William D. Boyce
In 1881, he co-founded "The Commercial" and sold his share to his partner in the next year. In 1884, he handled reporters and news release at the "Bureau of Correspondence". In 1886, he set up the Mutual Newspaper Publishing Company in Chicago. He financed an explorer Frederick Schwatka who discovered gold near Nome.
