He founded Texas Instruments. He along with his partners H.B. Peacock, J. Erik Jonsson, and Eugene McDermott bought GSI in 1941 with which they starting doing electronics work at the time of the Second World War. In 1951, they changed the name of the company to its current name and GSI was made its wholly-owned subsidiary.
