About Group of Monuments at Hampi
Hampi was an old city located in Karnataka of India. It was a prosperous city in the 14th century and was the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. The city was destroyed by the Mughal empire in 1565. The site is spread in an area of 4187 hectares. It is located near the Tungabhadra River. The site was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 1986 but was removed in 2006.
