About Nageswaran Temple
Nageswaraswamy Temple is a popular Hindu temple located in Kumbakonam city of Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva in which he is worshiped as Nagaraja means the serpent king. It is administered and maintained by the Government of Tamil Nadu with the help of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department. The temple is believed to be founded in the ninth century by Chola dynasty's king Aditya Chola but also includes contributions from Thanjavur Nayaks, and Thanjavur Maratha kingdom. The temple opens every day at 6 am and closes at 8:45 pm, however, six daily rituals are performed between 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. It remains closed for common public on Sundays.

The temple is located in an accessible location close to Kasi Viswanathar Temple and Shri Brahma Temple. Several transport options are available:

Some of the nearby bus stands near the temple are Uchipillaiyar Kovil Bus Stop, KumbaKonam Bus Stop, Thiruvalluvar Bus Depot, Town Bus Stand and TNSTC Bus Depot. All of these are located at a walking distance or you can take any local transport option to reach the place easily.
