About Adiyogi Shiva Statue
Adiyogi Shiva Statue is a steel statue of Lord Shiva made with Thirunamam at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The statue is designed by
Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev himself. It refers to Lord Shiva as the first yogi and was founded to inspire the world towards inner well-being through yoga. It was inaugurated on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri by Prime Minister
Narendra Modi in February 2017. The statue was deliberately made of height of 112 feet (ca. 34 m), showing the 112 possibilities to get moksha and 112 chakras in the human system. It weighs around 550 tonnes. It remains open for the visitors from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm every day, however, timings may be different on festivals and special occasions including Purnima and Amavasya. No fee is charged by the authorities to visit the monument.
How To Reach Adiyogi Shiva Statue
Adiyogi Shiva statue is located at the foothills of Velliangiri Mountains (Kailash of the South). Several means of transport which take you to the location:
Bus
Some of the nearby bus stop from the location includes Ukkadam Bus Stop, Isha Bus Stop, Poondi bus stop, Semmedu Bus Stop and Parameswaranapalayam. You can take any of the local transport means after reading these bus stands. Buses for the gates of the complex are available at the Gandhipuram bas stand after every 45 minutes.
Train
If you prefer a train journey, you have to leave your train at the closest train station like Chullimada, Walayar, Kottekad, Ettimadai, Kanjikode and Madukarai. Many local transport options are available that will take you to the location comfortably.
Walk
If you are at Dhyanalinga temple, a short walk of seven minutes take you to the complex. Modified bullock carts and open rickshaw are also available for the aged people and children who couldn’t walk.
Taxi
You can also go there via a taxi, which is a comfortable ride and leave you right at the gate of the complex.
