About Tadoba National Park
Tadoba National Park or Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is a oldest and biggest protected area situated in the Chandrapur, Maharashtra, India. It was established in 1955. The park has span a area of around 625 sq km and governed by the Maharastra forest department.
Some Lesser Known Facts About Tadoba National Park
- The park named after the god Taru worshipped by the tribes living in the Tadoba and Andhari forests. According to legends, Taru was a chief of the village who killed by a tiger in a mythological encounter. The shrine of Taru visited by Adivasis is on the bank of Tadoba Lake.
