Jungle Island or Parrot jungle is an eco-adventure park in Miami. After the selling of its original site for Pinecrest gardens, the park was then moved to Watson Island. It is the favorite spot, especially for families with kids, to have an exciting weekend. There are many rides, animal exhibitions, and many more activities to partake in.
Some Lesser Known Facts About Jungle Island
- The man-made island is situated in Biscayne Bay. It is a zoological park that houses some of the world's rarest and most exotic animals. There are a lot of activities to partake in like close-up interactions with its resident animals under the guidance of trainers, feeding them and watching other inhabitants, and rides for kids.
- The Island was established in the year 1936 and is spread over an area of 18 acres with over 2000 kinds of flora and fauna.
- One popular activity among others is getting photos clicked with a variety of parrots, including blue and gold macaws. "Manú Encounter," is a huge aviary located on the grounds, designed to look like the cliffs of Manú, Peru. Inside you will free-flying parrots and curious squirrel monkeys who like munching on peanuts!
- Another aviary is the Lorikeet Aviary, where one will find brightly colored birds that like to make themselves right at home on the hands, shoulders, heads of the visitors. You can also feed them, with little cups of special fruit nectar provided by the keepers.
- Other attractions include a children's playground, lakeside café, flamingo lake, petting zoo, and a floating obstacle course. Jungle Island is open 365 days a year; no holidays.

You will also find rare White Bengal Tigers, the Snow White Tigers, the Tabby Tigers, and the White Lion, which is a native of the Timbavati region of South Africa.
- Another thrilling activity here, favored by tourists is the ultimate free flight experience where you feel the exhilaration of flight without any parachute. The wind tunnel generates winds over 120 miles per hour so that you can float and fly like a bird up to 15 feet high, all of this with the help of a trained professional instructor.
