About Sasmita Loka
Sasmita Loka is a popular museum located in Central Jakarta, Indonesia. It was established in October 1965. It contains a collection from Ahmad Yani alongside dioramas about the G-30-S/PKI, 30 September 1965. The museum could be visited between 8:00 am to 2:00 pm from Tuesday to Sunday. It remains closed on Monday. No entry ticket is charged to visit the museum.

You can go to the museum by both public or private transport whichever is suitable.
Bus
Going there by bus is the cheapest way to reach the museum. You have to take a bus on route number C02. The nearby bus station is Samsat Ciledug.
Train
If you prefer a train ride then you have to board a Loop Line train. You have to get off at Stasium BNI City situated within a walking distance from the museum.
Metro
The metro is also the fastest and economical means to reach the destination. The Bendungan Hilir metro station is situated close to the museum.

  • The name of the museum is derived from Sanskrit words Sasmita and Loka which means a place to remember. As the museum was dedicated to the sacrifice of those who were killed by PKI rebels, the name suited the museum.
  • An important fact you must know that the house in which the present-day museum is located was a residence of a Dutch or European director of a private company. General Ahmad Yani also resided in this house who was shot by members of the 30 September Movement in this house. The museum also displays holes in the doors and walls which were made through the bullet fire which killed Ahmad Yani. The place where Yani was shot is also marked.
