Situated just a mile north of downtown Petoskey is the historic Terrace Inn. It sits in the middle of the 100-year-old Victorian Bay View neighborhood and is 2 blocks from Lake Michigan. Downtown Petoskey offers charming shops and cultural events year-round as well as the haunting of the hotel.

- Built in the year 1910, the building today is turned into a modern-day hotel that offers 38 rooms to its visitors from cozy cottage-like rooms to luxury comfort suites.

- The Inn hosts a Ghost Hunting weekend each October. Paranormal happenings are witnessed by guests and employees regularly, especially on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Unlike its surrounding cottages, the Inn is open all year long and during winter when most of the roads are not plowed, it provides the surroundings a fairy-tale ambiance; or a nightmarish feeling if you?re not into the thrill of the quiet winter.

- The site is said to be haunted by numerous ex-residents. One of these is the ghost of a woman. Her name is Elizabeth and she?s seen dressed in Victorian-era clothing. She has been seen wandering the halls and spotted in guest rooms.

- Another ghost of a man named Edward dressed in a tweed jacket, who is speculated to be Elizabeth?s husband is seen peering into bedrooms. Unexplained footsteps and bumps in the night are also a regular occurrence.

- In the basement, one may chance upon a young boy, who might initiate a brief interaction. On taking a closer look, one may notice that the boy is in a shadowy form. He is around 13-14 years of age and is quite harmless.

- During its construction, two workers allegedly died, and thus the grounds are believed to have a ?presence?. It is said that a beam fell on them, killing them instantly. The Inn has attracted many paranormal investigators and fans of the occult.
