The Banff Springs Hotel is situated in the Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. Itsits at an altitude of 1,414 metres. The city of Banff is situated within the Rocky Mountains mountain range. There is also a hot springs, called the Upper Banff Hot Springs, to the south of the hotel.

- The Banff is styled after a Scottish baronial castle and is also a UNESCO world heritage site.

- Its construction began in the year 1886 commanded by William Cornelius Van Horne. The architect in charge was called Bruce Price. The hotel took 2 years to complete and so, was inaugurated in the year 1888.

- The location, beautiful as it is, is also known for the accounts of the paranormal. Legend says that the hotel has other guests including Sam, the bellman, who is a spirit that helps people with their luggage. It is said that Sam was an employee until the year 1975 when he died.
- Another frequently mentioned incident concerning the occult is that of the woebegone bride, who according to the legend, fell to her death, down the stone staircase during her wedding. She now haunts the hallways of the Banff.

- The incident of the unfortunate bride, is said to date back to the 1920s. Employees and other members of the staff have reported seeing a veiled woman walking up and down the staircase.
- The hotel has hosted some notable people. In 1939, King George VI and his wife, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, stayed at the Banff Springs Hotel during their Royal tour of Canada.

- During the winter Olympics of 1988 in Calgary, the Banff prepared its facilities to accommodate and manage the rush of spectators. The same year, Banff Springs was named a Ntional Historic Site of Canada.

- The hotel is a luxury facility which has 757 guest rooms, multiple dining rooms, ballroom, indoor swimming pools. Some restaurants also ocuppy the hotel property, like The Samurai Sushi Bar, The Rundle Lounge, etc. It boasts of a 27 hole gofl course, along with tennis courts and also a bowling alley.

- The original building of the Banff was in the shape of the alphabet "H". It is said that a mistake on the part of the builder changed the original intended plan, and the hotel now had its back turned on the mountains.

- The hotel barred its doors for the first time through the years 1942-1945, so as to free up the war efforts.
