Ryokufuso Inn is a three-star hotel located in the Kyoto prefecture of Japan. It is situated just 15 minutes walking distance from Kyoto Tower. - According to the Japanese mythology, if a child in a family home dies, he or she becomes a Zashiki Warashi. It is a playful, protective soul that brings good luck for those who see it. But if anyone ignores a zashiki it will lead to a terrible curse for the household. It is said, a warrior from the south came to the land about 600 years ago. He became a friend of two six-year-old brothers. The old brother suffered with a deadly illness and died after a long battle for surviving. It is said, he had sworn to protect his home which was the same piece of land where Ryokufuso Inn was made.
- Many guests have heard the sound of a child’s laughter and footsteps while staying in this hotel. They also noticed the moving of the objects. Many of the guests including popular television celebrities claim that they have seen the zashiki warashi and got good fortunes after the encounter.
- The owner of the hotel has collected toys and placed them in front of tatami room so as to please the zashiki warashi. It is said that sometimes, toys get life when zashiki is playing with them.
- The story of the inn was described by famous author Testuro Miura in his novel, after which the hotel got popularity.
