About The Moscow Kremlin
The Moscow Kremlin is a fortress located in Moscow region of Russia. It was built up in about 1331 by the Rurik dynasty. It is located on the hill where Neglinnaya River meets Moskva river. It covers an area of approximately 27.7 hectares. It is now the official residence of the President of Russia while part of it is converted into a museum. The place received about three million visitors in a year. The museum is open for a public visits between nine in the morning till five in the evening throughout the week.
Some Lesser Known Facts About The Moscow Kremlin
- On the backside of Kremlin stood the Lenin Mausoleum. The first leader of Soviet Union Vladimir Lenin who died in 1924 is kept in an open coffin here. It is open for a public visit between 10:00 to 13:00 on Tuesday, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Visitors are asked to show respect and do not film or take photographs. Talking, keeping hands in pockets and smoking is also forbidden.
- According to the legends ghost of an Italian architect, Aristotle Fioravanti also haunt Kremlin. He builds the Dormition Cathedral and is believed to be died walled up in the Tainitskaya Tower. It is said his ghost appears just before the terrible events take place in Russia.
