About Kumbhal fort
Kumbhal fort is UNESCO certified world heritage site as the hill forts of Rajasthan situated in Rajsmand, Rajasthan, India. The fort was built in around the 15th century by the Mewar ruler Rana Kumbha. Following the fort of Chittorgarh, it is the most important fort in Mewar built on a hilltop into the Aravalli range.
Some Lesser Known Facts About Kumbhal fort
- The fort has a place of the biggest fort complexes throughout the world and also the largest fort in the country after Chittor fort.
- The initial history of the fort still unknown due to a lack of evidence. Some sources stated that the earliest name of the fort was Machhindrapur built by Samprati of the Maurya kingdom.
- The structure has perimeter walls extend up to 36 kilometers which making it the longest walls across the world.

- The fort has more than 360 ancient temples including Jain and Hindu temples.

- As some folklore says that the massive lamps used to burn for the farmers worked during nights in the valley. The lamp consumed 50 kilograms ghee and 100 kilograms cotton.
