Last few days bring some disappointment among Indian Sports lover when they came to know that Indian Wrestling Champion Vinesh Phogat was disqualified in the Olympics finale just because she was 100 gram more than required for the category she was fighting for. Phogat’s performance was outstanding in Olympics 2024 when she defeated world champion Yui Susaki. Indians were expecting that she will bring Gold Medal and perform well in Final.
There are some rumors that it is a conspiracy, and she was disqualified that she couldn’t win the final match. Even the opposition political parties were blaming the ruling party for the conspiracy as due to her past rage with Indian politician Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. However, wrestling champion Bajrang Punia clarified that there is no conspiracy and all the contestants have to clear the medical test before every match. According to some experts, her weight raised to 52 kilograms a night before the final match due to overconsumption of water. She tried her best to reduce the weight, even her hair were cut, and some blood was also taken from her body to reduce her weight to that required. But at the last moment, she was disqualified as she was 100 gram more than 50 kilograms.
However, some of the sports lover blaming Phogat that she used her influence and qualified for 50 Kilograms category without any trial after she lost in 53 kilogram category match in India to qualify for Olympics. By using her influence, she shut down the doors for the other new struggling wrestlers who are dreaming to make their debut in Olympics 2024. Now she is disqualified for the final match and there is no hope for India to win a Gold in wrestling.
Phogat has announced her retirement after her participation in Olympics. The athlete has filed a plea against her disqualification at the Court of Arbitration of Sports. Her hearing is scheduled at the 10 am local time of Paris on August 9, 2024. Also, Indian government supported her and asked to appoint renowned lawyer Harish Salve for the case. All the Indian sports fan are praying for her that at least she will be given silver as she defeated Yusneylis Guzman Lopez before being disqualified. What are your thought regarding the matter?
