John Wick Actor Lance Reddick Passes away at 60

Best noted for his work as Charon in the John Wick franchise, Lance Reddick took his last breath on 17th March 2023. John Wick actor was found dead at his home in Los Angeles. His publicist made the announcement, stating that Reddick had "passed away suddenly". Cause of death had been reported to be "natural causes"

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland in June 1962. The city was later used as the backdrop for perhaps his most prominent role as police lieutenant Cedric Daniels in the drama series The Wire. The series aired from 2002 to 2008. During an interview with Guardian in 2010, he said he believed the show would be a "hit" but did not forestall it "would become this phenomenon".
He lost his life 2 years after his co-star Michael K Williams from the series The Wire, who played Omar. Williams passed away due to an overdose. In 2022, four people were taken into custody for allegedly trading the drugs that Michael took before his death.
Lance made his acting debut in 1996 with the television series New York Undercover as Oscar Griffin for the episode The Enforcers. His big screen debut came along 2 years later with Great Expectations (1998).

He was currently filming Ballerina and The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, which are yet to be announced, and the upcoming 2024 fantasy television series Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
The actor was all for acting and had to work hard to achieve the success he reached today, he opened during an interview with Los Angeles Times in 2009 stating he feels like an "artist at heart". He said, "When I went to drama school, I knew I was at least as talented as other students, but because I was a black man and I wasn't pretty, I knew I would have to work my butt off to be the best that I would be".
In addition to acting, he was also a voice artist and had offered his voice to various characters in series and movies including Farzar (2022-2023) as Renzo / Agent Clappers, The Legend of Vox Machina (2023) as Thordak. The actor has provided his voice to video game characters as well including Commander Zavala in Destiny: Rise of Iron, Charon in Payday 2, and more. The 60-year-old actor had also studied classical music at the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in New York.

His fellow actor Reddick's The Wire co-star, Wendell Pierce tweeted offering his condolence "A man of great strength and grace. As talented a musician as he was an actor. The epitome of class. A sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here. RIP"

Isiah Whitlock Jr., as well as the creator of the show, The Wire, David Simon along with his friend and family also paid tribute in his memory. Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski stated they “are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend & colleague Lance Reddick”. They offered their love & prayers to his wife Stephanie, his children, family & friends. The actor is survived by his wife, Stephanie, as well as his children's daughter, Yvonne Nicole Reddick, and son, Christopher Reddick. A heartfelt condolence to the actor's family from NotedNames.
