1. Kabir Singh
The 2019 film Kabir Singh was the highest-grossing film of that year. The story was about a surgeon Kabir Singh (played by Shahid Kapoor) who became an alcoholic after getting fail in love. The character Kabir Singh became a signature word for drunk people with beards, and the film earned appreciation from the audience. But do you know that the film was a remake of the Telugu film "Arjun Reddy." This film was released in 2017 and Arjun Reddy was played by Vijay Deverakonda.
2. Singham
As we all know that Singham was a blockbuster film released in 2011. The film earned about 876 million INR in India on the first day of its release. The film stars Ajay Devgn as the title character. It is directed by popular director Rohit Shetty who has excelled in action movies. The story revolves around an honest police officer named Bajirao Singham about how he fights against culprits to give judgment to the family of a late honest police officer Rakesh Kadam. It is one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films but is a remake of the Tamil film "Singam." Even the names of the characters are taken from the Tamil film of the same name. In this film, Singam was played by Suriya.
3. Drishyam
The crime thriller film "Drishyam" directed by Nishikant Kamat was also one of the highest-earning films in Bollywood. The film stars Ajay Devgn and Tabu. The film revolves around an uneducated but smart-minded man who hides evidence of the murder in such a way that it was hard to prove what is true even to the high-rank police officer. This film is also a remake of the Malayalam film of the same name. This film was released in 2013 and it stars Mohanlal, and Meena.
4. Vikram Vedha
The 2022 action thriller film Vikram Vedha also earned attention due to its high budget. The makers selected Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan to play the title characters while Radhika Apte, Yogita Bihani, and Rohit Saraf were in supporting roles. The story was about an honest police officer SSP Vikram and Vedha, a dreaded gangster. It was also a copy of the Tamil film of the same name. Though the Tamil film earned appreciation from the critics, the Hindi remake was not proved successful and flopped at the box office.
5. Ghajini
The Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini earned much audience acclaim in 2008. The film plot was about an investigation of a murder done by a man, Sanjay Singhania, suffering from anterograde amnesia. He finally achieves success in finding the murderer of his girlfriend Kalpana Shetty (Asin) with the help of a Polaroid Instant camera and permanent tattoos. This was the highest-grossing film of the year and crossed 100 crore mark domestically. This film is also a remake of the Tamil film of the same name, which was based on the American thriller film "Momento." The Tamil film stars Suriya and Asin while Nayanthara, Pradeep Rawat, and Riyaz Khan are in supporting roles.
