Entertainment industry shocked with the ED summons sent to Kapil Sharma, Huma Quereshi and Hina Khan. The actors are called for questioning in relation to Mahadev betting app case. Two days before Ranbir Kapoor for the same case. According to the sources, there are over 14–15 celebrities involved in the case and will be summoned soon.
What is Mahadev Betting App Scam?
Mahadev Betting App is an illegal betting app owned by Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal. It started in Dubai in 2018. The network is not only active in India but also in UAE, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Before starting this app, Sourabh Chandrakar used to run a juice shop, while Ravi Uppal owned a tyre shop.
How they got ED attention?
Sourabh Chandrakar got married in February 2023, at Ras Al-Khaimah, UAE. For this he thrown a lavish party and spent about 200 crore INR in cash. Ranbir Kapoor also attended the ceremony. As app was profiting several crores of rupees everyday, a large amount was spent on advertising to attract new users. Many popular celebrities promoted the app and received the payment in cash.
Search Operation
The Enforcement Directorate conducted the search operation at 39 locations at Bhopal, Mumbai, Raipur and Kolkata and seized illegal assets worth INR 417 crore. Non-bailable warrants were issued by Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) special court.
