Kamala Harris has been nominated by Democratic Party following present president Joe Biden withdrawal due to increasing age and health concerns. Though there are several candidates, most of the eyes are on Kamala Harris from Democratic Party and former president Donald Trump from Republican Party.

Who is Kamala Harris?


Kamala Harris is a presidential candidate from Democratic Party in 2024 presidential election. Born to a Jamaican American father and Indian mother, Kamala belongs to a mix descent and will the first African American woman president if wins the election. Kamala holds a degree in Legal Education Opportunity Program from University of California College of the Law and graduated with a Juris Doctor in 1989.

In an interview with American kids, she explained how she would deal with the situation and would be an inspiration to all of them to join politics in their later life.

  • She is the first female vice president, as well as the highest-ranking female official in the history of the United States. Also, she is the first African American and first South Asian American vice president.
  • Harris was interested in politics and was aware of the need for to fight for right since she was a child. She successfully led the protest of the children of her age when she was just 13 to allow them to play in her apartment’s front lawn.
  • She was raised multi-cultured. Being a child of an Indian Hindu mother and Jamaican-American Christian father, she attended both Hindu temple and Black Baptist church. It is estimated that if she will be the president, she will respect other cultures and there will be equality in society in her rule.
  • Harris has faced racism as a child, and other children who used to live near her father’s apartment in Palo Alto were not allowed to play with Kamala and her sister Maya because they were black.
  • She is the first Black woman to work as District Attorney of San Francisco and became an inspiration for other Black women to follow the legal profession.
  • The presidential candidate has a huge interest in literature, and Richard Wright’s Native Son and Amy Tan’s The Joy Luck Club being her favorite.
