Many times you have seen that the Bollywood film is inspired from a Hollywood film or a copy of any South Indian films. This is always heart-breaking for the cinema lovers, as they want to see something original. Today, we have prepared a list of some of the excellent Hindi films that inspired Hollywood to make a remake. Let’s have a look:

10. A Wednesday


A 2008 film “A Wednesday” with Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher in lead roles was a masterpiece of Bollywood. It became an inspiration of the Ben Kingsley film “A Common Man” which was released in 2013.

9. Darr


Do you remember Shahrukh Khan’s superb movie “Darr.” The film was released in 1993. Shah Rukh Khan was shown a psycho stalker and his signature dialogue “K-K-K-Kiran” is still remember as a magnificent piece of work by Shahrukh Khan. The film inspired Hollywood director James Foley who made an English remake of the film with the title “Fear” which was released three years after the release of the Hindi film.

8.Vicky Donor


Ayushman Khurrana starrer movie Vicky Donor was a film released in 2012 in which the title character was a Sperm Donor. The film served as a base for the Hollywood film “Delivery Man” released one year after the Hindi film.

7. Abhay


Abhay was a masterpiece starring Kamal Hassan which was a hindi remake of Tamil film “Aalavandhan.” It served as a base for Quentin Tarentino’s thriller film “Kill Bill”. The film was released in 2003, two years after the release of Abhay.

6. Rangeela


Aamir Khan and Urmila Matonkar’s film “Rangeela” became a base for the Hollywood film “Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!” The film gained a lot of audience applaud when it was released in 1995 and the work of all three actors was also well received. The storyline of the film is used in Hollywood film “Win a Date With Tad Homilton” starring Kate Bosworth, Topher Grace and Josh Duhamel.

5. Jab We Met


Jab We Met was a fantastic movie released in 2007. The lead role in the film was played by Kareena Kapoor which was a highly-talkative girl who met a stranger in the way to meet her boyfriend. Both of them eventually fall in love and get married. Same storyline was used for the film Leap Year released in 2010 starring Amy Adams and Matthew Goode.

4. Chhoti Si Baat


Chhoti Si Baat was a comedy film released in 1976. Amol Palekar, Vidya Sinha, Dharmendra, Hema Malini and Asrani played the starring roles in the films. The story moves around a man who wishes to express his love but fails and eventually gets success in proposing his love. The Hollywood film “Hitch” which was released in 2005 starring Will Smith, Eva Mendes and Kevin James has the same story line as Bollywood film “Chhoti Si Baat.”

> 3. Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya
Salman Khan’s film “Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya” with Sushmita Sen as female lead gained positive reviews from the viewers and became a base of the storyline of the film “Just Go With It” which was released six years later in 2011.

2. Sangam


Sangam was a 1964 film starring Vyjayanthimala, Raj Kapoor and Rajendra Kumar. The film became a base for the Hollywood film “Pearl Harbour” released in 2011. The English remake of the film starred Josh Hartnett, Ben Affleck and Kate Beckinsale.

Aahwanam


S.V.Krishnan Reddy’s romantic film “Aahwanam” became an inspiration for the Hollywood film “Divorce Invitation” starring Jonathan Bennett and Jamie L.Sigler.
