She is best known as the writer of the memoir "Mommie Dearest" came out in 1978, along with that she has also written Survivor which is the second installment of the book series. She wrote Black Widow: A Novel in 1981. Daughters Of The Inquisition: Medieval Madness: Origin and Aftermath came out in 2003.
She also got prominence for her role as Joan Borman Kane in The Secret Storm and Monica George in the movie Wild in the Country.
