About Nagraj Manjule
Nagraj Manjule was born on August 24th, 1977 at Jeur, Karmala Taluka in Solapur and was a great filmmaker and screenwriter. 'Pistulya' was his first short movie and for this movie, he won National Film Award in Non-Feature Film category. He also wrote 1 book of poetry named 'Unhachya Katavirudhha' for which he got the Bhairuratan Damani Sahitya Puraskar. He got married when he was just 18 or 19 years old and they got divorced on 2014 from the 15 years of marriage.
Career of Nagraj Manjule
His most of the movies are based on his own experiences like his first short movie is based on his own life. He himself write and direct the movie, in fact, he also appeared in this movie. His next film was 'Fandary'(2013) who is also an award-winning movie in which he again writes, direct and acts in the movie. 'Sairat' is his second movie which at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival was premiered. this movie also tells about the cast and honor killing like his other two movies. He also appeared in different movies like in 'Baji'(2015) as police inspector Mahesh, in 'Highway'(2015), and 'The Silence'(2016) which is Marathi as well as Hindi movie.

He has won many awards for his first movie named 'Pistulya' some of them are won Ma Ta Samman 2010 for best short film, won Aarohi Film Festival Mumbai 2009 for Best short film and Best Actor, Hyderabad International Film Festival 2010 for Best short film and so on.
He also has won many awards for his movie 'Fandry' some of them are in Mumbai International Film Festival he won award for Jury Grand Prize, won prize in Pune International Film Festival for Best Film, Best Film(Audience), Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Actor, won International Federation of Film Critics for Best Film of the year 2013, also won Maharashtra State award for best director, won Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival 2014 for Best First Feature Film, also won the First Marathi Filmfare Award 2014 for Best Director, Best Child Artist (Somnath Awaghade), Best Supporting Actor (Kishor Kadam), Best Cinematography (Vikram Almadi).
