About Aparna Sen
Aparna Sen is a Bengali actress, director, screenwriter, and filmmaker. During the late 1960s, 1970s, 1980s she was one of the best leading actresses. For her direction, she got many national and international awards. She starts her acting career with the movie 'Teen Kanya' (1961) and starts her direction career with movie '36 Chowringhee Lane'. She was one of the members of 16th Moscow International Film Festival in 1989 and became the International jury member of 'Asia Pacific Screen Awards' in 2008. With her editorial team, she launched the Magazine named 'Prathama Ekhon'.
Early Life of Aparna Sen
he was born on 25 October 1945, Calcutta, Bengal Presidency, British India. She belongs to the Bengali family. Her father Chidananda Dasgupta was a filmmaker and her mother Supriya Dasgupta was a costume designer. Jibanananda Das is a cousin of her. She joined a Modern High School for Girls, Kolkata and complete her B.A. English from Presidency College.
Career of Aparna Sen
She started her career in 1961 with the movie 'Teen Kanya' directed by Satyajit Ray. At that time she was only 15 years old. In 1965 she appeared in the movie 'Akash Kusum' whose also Hindi remake has also done. She was also seen in an English-language feature film name 'The Guru' by 'Merchant Ivory Productions'. Later she again appeared in two movies of Merchant Ivory Productions named 'Bombay Talkie' (1970), and 'Hullabaloo Over Georgie and Bonnie's Pictures' (1978). She appeared in Bengali movie 'Antaheen' along with Sharmila Tagore and Rahul Bose. As a director, she has directed many movies like '36 Chowringhee Lane', 'Paroma' (1984), 'Paromitar Ek Din' (2000), 'Mr. and Mrs. Iyer' (2002) and so on.
Achievements of Aparna Sen
She got 'Padma Shri' award the fourth highest civilian award by the Government of India in 1987.
Got 8 BFJA Award, 4 for best actress, 2 for the best-supporting actress, and a Life Time Achievement Award in 2013.
Got two Anandalok Award for best actress.
