She was an American stage and film actress. She was not only an actress but a singer too. She was born on 16th December 1920, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. She was well known for her appearance in movies such as Bewitched (1964), Pistols 'n' Petticoats (1966) and Night of the Juggler (1980). She went to the Beverly Hills High School from where she completed her schooling and later she moved to the Los Angeles City College from where she received her bachelor degree. She also went to the Pasadena Playhouse and the American Shakespeare Academy. She got married to Parke N. Bossart, they had one child. She died of heart attack at the St. John's Hospital in Queens on 29th July 1989.

She worked as a stage and film actress and also as a singer. She started her career in 1938 in acting. Prior to becoming famous an actress she worked as a cabaret singer and pianist. She gave her first stage performance in 1939. Her very first production was The Merry Wives of Windsor at the Beverly Hills Shakespeare Theatre, where she went after completing her schooling and graduation. Later she gave her performance with the United Service Organizations from 1943 to 1945. Later in 1949 she made her Broadway debut with the revue Touch and Go, and for giving her appearance in this she received a Theatre World Award. She also gave her appearance in several talk shows like The Ed Sullivan Show, The Perry Como Show, The Merv Griffin Show. Before her death, she became the member of National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
