Royce D. Applegate was born on Christmas in 1939 in Midwest City, Oklahoma, U.S and it is very sad to say he was died in a fire in his Hollywood Hills home on the New Year day just one week after his 63rd Birthday. He had done his graduation from Midwest City High School. In 1958, he marries Norma Hilderbrand and they both get divorced in 1969 and had one child with this marriage. He is resting in Sand Springs, Oklahoma's Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery after his death.

In 1969, he worked on the TV show called That Girl and his character was jerry in 1970's show called Mayberry R.F.D. In 1975, he worked on Attack on Terror: The FBI vs. the Ku Klux Klan as John Worden. And as Phil in Chesty Anderson, USN (1976). In American Raspberry in 1977, he was Miracle White Announcer. A role of Dutch in 1978's Harper Valley P.T.A. and as Callan in Alligator in 1980. In 1982, in The Blue and the Gray, he was 1st Cell Reporter. He was Buckwalter in Splash in 1984. His character Donald Brown was most liked by the people as Sam's kidnapper in Diff'rent Strokes in 1985. In the same year, he worked as Royce Applegate who was an Insurance Adjuster in the film The Dukes Of Hazzard. In 1986's film Armed and Dangerous, he was 2nd Toxic Guard. In 1987, his character was Tugger and Mr. Wilby in Million Dollar Mystery. He was Tugger in Million Dollar Mystery in 1987. And had played a lot of character between 1989 to 2003 like Mr. Gutman, Dutch Doogan, Brig. Gen. James Kemper, Henry, Officer Clemmons in Intolerable Cruelty, Seabiscuit, Gods and Generals, The Rookie, Artie and many more.
