He was interested in drama since his childhood, so he went to Los Angeles to studied drama at Los Angeles City College. He served himself during world war second. And he got married to Jeanie Cohen in 1945.

Prior to beginning his career in acting, he served himself in the united states army as a naval intelligence during second world war. When he entered in the Hollywood western movies, then people came to know about him well. He completed his graduation from Lincoln high school in Los Angeles. Once he achieved the scholarship to the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City when he was 19 years old, and he studied there for three years.
