He started his career as a dancer in the Opera Ring musical theater group in the 1960s. His first Off-Broadway work was in "The Nigger Lovers." He made his film debut with the film "Who Says I Can't Ride a Rainbow!" He played a starring role in films like Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Deep Impact, Seven, and Unforgiven.
