Liam Aiken was born on January 7, 1990, in New York City and his real name is Liam Padraic Aiken. He was a single child to his parents, his mother is Irish Moya Aiken and his father Bill Aiken (MTV producer). When he was just 2 years old his father died of cancer at the age of 34.He studied at Dwight-Englewood School and after graduating there he went to New York University. He refused for the role of Cole Sear in The Sixth Sense because according to her mother he was so small for a death-fixated role.

With a Ford Motor Company commercial, he made his first debut. At the age of seven, he has done his first stage show with Broadway play 'A Doll's House' and in 1997 with movie Henry Fool his debut movie. In 1998 in movie 'Stepmom' he got his first major role. He appeared in both movies named Good Boy (2003) and Road to Perdition (2002). As he has previously worked with the director Chris Columbus in movie Stepmom he has also considered for the role of the Harry Potter but the deal was canceled as he was not British. In 2004 he had played the role of a 12-year-old orphan named Klaus Baudelaire in the movie 'Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events'. In 2010 he has appeared 'The Killer Inside Me' and in 2011 he appeared in series 'A Gifted Man'. For the audiobook versions of All the Wrong Questions, he narrates from 2012 to 2015.his latest movie is The Emoji Movie in 2017. He had given his voice in the video game Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events to a character named Klaus Baudelaire.

In 1999 he won the Young Artist Award for the Best Performance in a Feature Film - Young Actor Age Ten or Younger and he was nominated for the twice fro young artist award for Best Performance in a Feature Film - Leading Young Actor (2004-2005). In 2003 Young Artist Award for the Best Performance in a Feature Film - Supporting Young Actor. He was nominated for the Critics Choice Award as a Best Young Actor in 2005.
