About Henry Armetta
Italian-born American actor Henry Armetta was born on July 4, 1888. When he was only 14 when he came to America in a boat. He had done many small works to earn his living like delivering groceries, sold pizzas and also as a pants presser in New York City. He was married to Iole Armetta in 1920 and also had three children. He died at the age of 57 with a heart attack on October 21, 1945, in San Diego, California, the U.S.
Career of Henry Armetta
First of all, he gets a role in a chorus in the play A Yankee Consul by Raymond Hitchcock. In 1920, he went to Hollywood to find some more work. Starting with the small role of barber, grocer or restaurant owner he had work in Fantômas in 1920, The Silent Command in 1923. In 1928 Street Angel and Madame X in 1929.
His performance was seen in Romance in 1930 and Strangers May Kiss in 1931. He had worked in three films in 1932 Week Ends Only, Scarface, They Just Had to Get Married. Two films in 1933 Fra Diavolo, What! No Beer?, The Cat and the Fiddle, The Black Cat, Gift of Gab were the films released in 1934. 1935 was the busy year with six films Princess O'Hara, Straight from the Heart, I've Been Around, Magnificent Obsession, After Office Hours, Dinky. Magnificent Brute and Poor Little Rich Girl in 1936 and Top of the Town in 1937. Performed in Everybody Sing in 1938, two films released in 1939 were 'Dust Be My Destiny', 'Fisherman's Wharf'. Three Cheers for the Irish in 1940 and The Big Store in 1941. In 1945, his film Anchors Aweigh was released. And Colonel Effingham's Raid was released after his death.
