He signed a contract with Rank Organisation and worked with them in Esther Waters, The Blue Lamp, Hunted. He played the role of a medical student in "Doctor in the House". He also appeared in "The Sleeping Tiger", second Doctor film, "Doctor at Sea". After leaving Rank Organisation he appeared in the film Victim and his performance leads to a revolution in the people of England relating to homosexuality. He also appeared in the film The Servant and won a BAFTA Award for this performance. He appeared in Darling, French film Providence and many more.

  • He was a son of the first art editor of the London Times Ulric Van den Bogaerde.
