He worked on the London stage in his starting acting career. He played lead roles in various radio and television dramas including the television drama "The Men's Room." He appeared as Samwise Gamgee in the radio show "The Lord of the Rings." He played the character of Vampire Elder Viktor in the horror film "Underworld." He played a starring role in the comedy-drama film "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel."
