Career of Dan Rather
He started his career as an Associated Press reporter in Huntsville, Texas. He worked as a play-by-play announcer for the University of Houston football team for four seasons. He was recruited as a reporter for KTRK-TV. He joined as a chief of the Southern bureau in New Orleans in August 1963.
