He had a younger brother with the same name 'Vincent van Gogh' who died just after the birth.
He never did painting in his childhood he started painting when he was 27 years old. He was self-taught and in starting, he mostly used to paint the sad and dark depictions of peasants.
He mostly paints his own painting. From 1886 and 1889 painted 30 pictures.
When he was alive he sold only one painting named 'The Red Vineyard' and after death, he becomes a famous painter.
In 10 years he made 900 paintings Portrait of 'Dr. Gachet' made in 1890 was the most expensive art piece from his paintings which was sold in $148.6 million dollars in 1990 and written 800 letters.
He was suffering from some mental illness at that time and while in the mental asylum of Saint-Remy-de-Provence at France he made his one of the most famous painting named 'Starry Night'.
His death is a mystery because everyone says that he shoot himself but there was no witness and the gun from which shot was also not found. On July 27, 1890, he shot down himself and due to lack of surgeon he died on July 29, 1890.
After his death, his brother's wife collected his all paintings and helped him to become famous.
He once attacked his best friend with an open razor during some capture and as a result, he cut off his ears, not a whole but a little part of an ear.
