About Malsi Deer Park
Malsi Deer Park is a small zoo situated on the Mussoorie Road which is spread in an area of 25 hectares. The zoo was found in 1976 and comes under Dehradun Forest Division. Here you can take a close look at wildlife including Sambar deer, Nilgai, peacock, rabbits, and lion. The site is also full of natural beauty, located on the Shivalik mountain range and is a perfect getaway from busy work schedule. A nominal charge of INR 20 per person is charged to have access to the park. It remains closed on Mondays and public holidays, and for the rest of the week the timing is from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
How To Reach Malsi Deer Park
The park is located just ten kilometers away from the city of Dehradun. So just 15-20 minutes drive can take you to the location. There are several options to reach the park, you can opt for any one whichever is convenient to you.
Bus
After reaching Dehradun, you can take any local bus or auto to reach Rajpur Road area. From there you can get another bus for the Malsi Dear Park. Buses going to Mussorie can also leave you at the gate of the park.
Train
Dehradun is well-connected with numerous trains going there including Vande Bharat, Shatabdi Express and Hawrah Express. After reaching Dehradun station, you can grab a taxi or any other local means of transport to have access to your favorite location.

Some Lesser Known Facts About Malsi Deer Park
- Though the park remains open throughout the year, but the best time to visit it is from March to June. The temperature here is slightly down from the main city due to greenery all around. You can see a variety of different flowers and attractive plants at the time of Monsoons.
- The park is a home to numerous birds, wild animals like two-horned deer, crocodiles, owl, snakes, and tiger. A visit to this zoo definitely increase your kid’s knowledge about wild life.
- It also has a kid's play area with a variety of swings, slides, and see-saw where your kids will spend some happy moments. Also, there are figures of animated characters like Mowgli, Chota Bheem, Raju, Chutki and Bagheera. Surely, your kids will love to go to the park.
