About New Town of Edinburgh
New Town is an area situated in Edinburgh of Scotland. The New Town was built in-between 1767 to 1850 in different stages. Here you can find Georgian and neo-classical architecture. The most popular street of the town is Princess Street which faces Edinburgh Castle and the Old Town. It earned the title of World Heritage Site in the year 1995.The decision of constructing the new town was taken to prevent over-crowding in the old town. It was very necessary at the time as most of the wealthy citizens of the town moved to London and to prevent further departure they decided to make a new town in the north of the city.
