About Manas Wildlife Sanctuary
Manas Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area located in the Assam state of India. The park is situated in the region of the Himalayan foothills and conserves tigers and elephants along with several other animals. The park was established in 1990 and covers an area of about 950 kilometers square. It was designated as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 1985. It was placed on the danger list due to a lot of terrorist activities and heavy poaching from 1992 to 2011.
