About Great Spas of Europe
Great Spas of Europe is a nominated site for the World Heritage preserved by UNESCO. It is a group containing eleven spa towns in seven countries. All the places were developed around mineral springs leading to the development of the spa towns. The main motivating force was mineral water for the landscape design, spatial organization, and holistic belief towards health and leisure. The buildings included drinking halls, pump rooms, treatment facilities, and colonnades to directly harness the resources of natural spring water. Also, there were casinos, hotels, theatres, casinos, and villas at the site. The main aim was to provide curative venues for mind body and spirit. The locations include Bad Ems, Bad Kissingen, Baden-Baden, City of Bath, Montecatini Terme, and Vichy among others.
