About Basilica of the Nativity
The Church of the Nativity is a church located in West Bank. The site is just 10 kilometers away from Jerusalem. The church was constructed by Constantine the Great in 325?326. It was made with a Romanesque architecture style. The site was listed as a World Heritage Site in the year 2012. The site covers an area of about 12000 square meters consisting of one Armenian Apostolic, Greek Orthodox, and Roman Catholic monasteries. The bell towers, pilgrimage routes, and terraced gardens are also included in the site.

- It is an important place for Christian pilgrimage as it is the birthplace of Jesus
- It is the oldest place of worship in Christianity.
- The original basilica which was made from 320 to 333 was destroyed in a fire at the time of the Samaritan revolts. Though it was rebuilt and some other things were added later on.
- It is sad to say that the Silver Star which used to denote the spot where Christ was born was stolen by Greek monks in October 1847. The Crimean War against the Russian Empire also damaged the property.
