The site is a part of Bosra town in Southern Syria. It was the capital of the Roman Empire in the Arabian province in the second century AD. It was called Nova Trajana Bostra at the time. It became a World Heritage Site in 1980. It was entered into the list of World Heritage Site in Danger in the year 2013. The site is important as it contains ruins of the Roman, Muslim, and Byzantine eras.
