About Ancient City of Aleppo
The Ancient City of Aleppo is an ancient city center situated at Aleppo city in Syria. The site covers an area of 364 hectares. The old city of Aleppo consisted of the ancient city covered with walls while there were cell-like quarters outside the boundaries. It gained the designation of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 1986. It was constructed during the 12th to 16th century and was unaffected until the Syrian Civil War.

  • The site became a victim in the clashes of the Syrian Arab Army and the rebel forces of Jabhat al-Nusra.
