About Soochipara Waterfalls
Surrounded by deciduous, evergreen, and montane forests, Soochipara Falls is a 200 meters waterfall. It has a cliff face that is brought into play for rock climbing. The fall is located at a 5-20 minute driving distance from Meppadi. During the drive, one can have the sight of a number of Wayanad's tea estates. The cascading water later connects with Chulika/Chaliyar River near Cherambadi. It consists of three tiers of water.

  • The name is taken from the local language in which, "Soochi" signifies "Needle" whereas "Para" means "Rock". The rocks present at the falls are in the form of a needle.
  • The entry fee is INR 80, if the person has a camera it costs INR 50 extra. It is closed for tourists from March to June.
  • At the entrance, visitors have to pass through a security check, where they make sure no plastic is being carried. In case somebody is carrying water bottles inside, they need to deposit INR 50 per bottle and collect the tag for it. While returning, the tag needs to be shown and the money will be refunded.
