The Cascada el Pailon del Diablo is an unforgettable natural beauty with a huge waterfall of about 265 feet. The voice of falling water excites every visitor and makes the experience so wonderful. With the suspension bridges and impressive riverside, the spot is the most beautiful spot. Visiting there is a magnificent experience with a blend of a natural waterfall and attractive flora and fauna. The spot remains open from Monday to Thursday since nine in the morning till 10:30 in the evening. While in the weekend, it remains open from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm. Tickets per person are 2.50 U.S. Dollars while for children you have to pay 1.50 US Dollars.

How To Reach Pailon del Diablo
Cascada el Pailon is a natural tourist attraction located in Rio Verde, Ecuador. You can reach there using any public transport whichever is preferable:
Bus
If you are going there by bus, the nearby bus stand from the place are bus stop are Banos Bus Terminal, Touristic Bus Station CanaMandur, Terminal Terrestre Banos and Terminal Terrestre Ambato. After reaching there, you have to take a taxi, or any of the public transport available to reach the destination.
Train
If you prefer a journey by train then you have to leave your train at any of the nearby station which are Estacion de Trenes de Ambato, Estacion de trenes de Cevallos and Estacion Riobamba and Latacunga Train Station. You can easily reach the destination taking any of the public transport from these stations.
Taxi
The easiest option to reach the spot is to go there via a taxi. The nearest taxi stand Parada De Taxis Shell is just 45 minutes away from the destination. You can also take a taxi to Plaza de toros, Parroquia Tarqui, and other nearby taxi stands and arrive at the spot conveniently.

  • If you feel exhausted after walking through the long trail, there is also a small restaurant at the bottom. It welcomes the guest with a cozy fireplace having reasonable rate beers. You can rest and have some refreshments at this restaurant to make the trip a pleasant experience. Also, there are several souvenir shops along the way and it’s better if you shop on the way back so that you should not carry the luggage during the whole trek.

  • To reach the top of the falls, you have to walk through the stairs carved from the rock and crawl through a 10-meter-long cave named La Grieta del Cielo means the crack of the sky to have a closer look at the falls. A raincoat or poncho is recommended for crawling as the water will drench your clothes. Be careful if you have pain in your knees or a claustrophobic. Though it requires some pain to get through a steep cave after reaching there, the experience is so amazing that you will forget all the pain of the way.
