About Old Towns of Djenne
Djenne is a town located in the Inland Niger Delta region of central Mali. The oldest part of the town including mosques made it a World Heritage Site which was designated as such in 1988. The city is spread in an area of a 302-kilometer square having a population of over 32,900 according to the 2009 census. The city was an important trade center between the 15th and 17th centuries and was closely linked with Timbuktu.
