About Bahla
Bahla is a pre-historic town located in the Ad Dakhiliyah region of Oman. It is situated about a 40-kilometer drive from Nizwa while approximately 200 kilometers away from Muscat. The town is known for the 13th century Bahla Fort and its pottery. It is now declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The castle of Jabreen is also situated close to Bahla which was made during the time of the Al Ya'ruba dynasty in the 17th century. You can admire the Islamic architecture alongside wooden inscriptions and paintings in this castle.

  • It is also estimated that the military and religious center including rulers wanted to keep the locals away from the desert as well as keep them safe inside the fortress so they spread the rumor that there is a jinn residing in the desert who kidnap residents.
  • Many people come here to get rid of the curse by evil spirits. It requires to perform some exorcise with the ritual ceremony so that the jinn or supernatural power can leave the possession.
  • Locals says many stories of ghost here one of which was a man who was stoned to death by villagers almost 1400 years ago as he was practicing some black magic. It is said that it was his ghost who delayed the restoration of the fort. The walls were erected in the daytime and it changed into ruins in the night.
